I don’t know where she gets it, but Sher thinks I’m too hard on you guys.
Last week, she told me, “Sometimes the way you word things to your biker friends is a little harsh.”
“These guys are savages,” I said. “They don’t respond well to kindness.”
She decided that this year – to make sure you feel welcome – she would write a Tour de Gulch invitation that I could use as a template for my own.
Hello, Growlers Gulch Riders! It is so exciting to be able to invite you to our 15th Tour de Gulch on Saturday, June 16th! We will be getting underway at 9 a.m. We would be so pleased to have you attend this year if it works into your busy schedule.
There will be plenty of good fun and a nice get-together at Porky’s in Longview after the ride, along with that warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes Growlers Gulch Racing such a wonderful group.
Please let us know if you can make it. We will be so very disappointed if you aren’t able to attend!
I read it carefully and used Sher’s version to give me a start on my own.
Slackers – This year’s Tour de Gulch is Saturday, June 16th. You’re invited. If you can’t make it, no one will shed any tears. No whiners and no trail poachers.
Ride starts at 9 a.m. We will be on Growlers Time. If you are too dumb to figure it out, this means that we’ll leave without you if you’re late and we won’t feel bad about it.
We will probably ride for about four hours. If you fall down, you have only yourself to blame. Party afterwards at Porky’s.
I reread both drafts several times, and – from my perspective – they are nearly identical. I’m still not sure what Sher was talking about.
