Lance Brigman – on loan from the Growlers Gulch Cycling Team – teamed with Greg Hartman, 56, Dave Russell, 67, and Mike Manning, 54, to help the Three Rivers Cycling Club capture the Oregon State Team Time Trial Championship in Corvallis on May 31.
Riding in the 240+ category (Lance actually isn’t that old; all of their ages added together had to equal 240 or more), they dusted the competition, averaging 25.7 miles per hour over the 27-mile course. Their time of 1:04:20 was a new course record for the 240+ age group.
State Championship Road Race
Brigman finished second in the 60+ road race state championship at Rainier on May 30.
“Another guy and I went off the front at about two miles,” Brigman said. “I couldn’t drop him and he couldn’t drop me. He finally pulled ahead in the last 200 meters and beat me by 10 yards.”
Brigman averaged 22 miles per hour over the 32-mile course. The third place-finisher was five minutes off the pace.

Way to go Lance! I can visualize Lance dueling with the other rider as they approached the finish line in the latter event…after 32 miles it’s down to 10 feet?! No wonder I can’t keep uo let alone see Lance coming out of the Ridge Trail.
