Nick Hansen, Chase Jamieson Take Stage 4 Crowns
July 14, 2009 on 2:37 pm | In Mountain Biking | 2 CommentsLocal riders continued their strong showing at this year’s Fluidride Cup Series, with Nick Hansen and Chase Jamieson winning their classifications at Stage #4 at Mount Hood Ski Bowl on July 10th and 11th.
Hansen won the Cat II 30-39 race in 5:31. Casey Cox was 6th in 6:00. Meanwhile, Jamieson rolled to another win in Cat III 0-14 in 9:27.
After qualifying in 4:19, Eric Loney put up a 4:30 in the finals to finish 5th among 27 pro riders. Loney was just .06 off the fourth-place time. Bryn Aktinson of Crankbrothers/Intense won the event with a 4:08.
“Conditions were horrible on Sunday,” Loney said. “There was a thick fog and constant drizzle that limited visibility and really slowed down the times.”
Jason Moon, who squeaked out a win over Brad Watt at Ski Bowl in late June, finished second in Cat I 40+. Watt was the winner in 4:33, with Moon close behind at 4:35. Darrell Jamieson was 4th at 4:57.
Geo Smith was second in Cat II 50+ with a 5:58. In Cat I 19-29, Lloyd Smith took 9th in 4:54 while Al Hansen was 16th at 5:06.
Stage #5 shifts to Port Angeles on August 21st-23rd. Riders return to Ski Bowl to complete the season on September 25th-27th.

Al had a bad crash that he was lucky to walk away
from or he would of finished much better. The conditions during the morning runs weren’t to
bad, but by the pro final in the afternoon the conditions had gotten much worse. Atkinson and
3rd place pro Mikey Sylvestri did run times the
same as their qualifier. Total props to those
guys. I just wasn’t willing to pin it in those
conditions. I’m still pretty happy with my finish
though.
