They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?

Practice: The cheaters will be out in force on Saturday, studying the lines and trying to shave time. You’re welcome to come out and give it a go. BTW – Thomas was out on Wednesday. He ran a 7:15 – and that included a stop to put his chain back on.

Trail Conditions: There has been moderate equine traffic on Eddie this week. Fortunately, because the ground is hard, the damage is minimal. We can take a look on Saturday and determine if we need to fill in any holes.

If we don’t get moisture between now and Sunday, expect a few loose, dusty spots on the corners. Overall, the tread is in great shape and dialed for maximum speed.

Race Day: You can park at the Growlers gate or drive in on the Melton side. If you park at the gate, either ride Predator (left side at the top) to get to Eddie, or ride the gravel to the intersection and hang a left. You’ll see the crowd. If you want to do a practice run on Sunday, you should show up by 9:15 or so. The festivities kick off at 10:00.

Consider bringing a lawn chair and something to eat. No alcoholic beverages.

Photos: If you have a camera, bring it. I’m especially interested in shots taken on the course, rather than just at the start line. Also, if you can take a couple of short vid clips, that would be great. Pick the best and send them to me so that I can put omething together.

Participants: If I’ve left you off, let me know.

    1. Message from Thomas: “I just wanted to ride it casually, I have seen Mel’s and Paul’s bike at the beginning of the trail and just rolled along to find them. When we met back at the start line they pulled out a watch, so I had to go (damn). The time was something with 7:20 minus the chain drop in a corner which cost me(I counted) about 10sec. Then my front wheel sunk in a soft spot. So small correction, the 7:15 does not include the chain drop! Anyway it was a pleasure to ride the trail after it had been prepared to prime condition. Paul and Mel just take it so serious.”
