After operating out of his home on Boone Road in Kelso for the past five years, Jason Moon and his lovely wife, Alexis, have opened a bike parts showroom at 1331 14th Avenue, Suite 204, in Longview. Boone Dog Bikes stocks performance parts, frames and bikes. Services range from basic maintenance to custom bike builds.

Moon said his goal is to expand his customer base to include more recreational riders, as well as free-riders, downhillers, and cross-country people. “The downtown location will give bikers a chance to pick up parts during the day, and they can also drop off their bikes for repair,” he said.

Initially, the new shop will be open from 11 to 6, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from noon to 5:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Moon hopes to expand his hours in the coming months. “We’ll keep the original shop on Boone Road open for appointments as well,” he said.

Boone Dog Bikes will stock performance parts from Shimano, SRAM, Thomson, FSA, WTB, Kenda, Intense, Rockshox, SKS USA, Truvativ, Maxxis, Avid, Hayes, Kool Stop, Marzocchi, Park Tool, and more. BDB will also carry complete bikes by Brodie of Canada and frames from Foes Racing, Arrow Racing, On One, and Orange Mountain Biking.

Jason says he has worked hard to develop a niche among area mountain bikers by getting out on trail on a regular basis and by paying attention to what bikers need. “They know I ride. I test what I sell, and that helps me understand what parts are gong to wrok best for particular people.”

After hours shop amenities will include a beer refrigerator and stripper pole. Moon announced that he is taking requests for beer. However, he failed to mention who will utilizing the stripper pole or their all-important performance times.

An avid downhiller, Moon was the 2006 Mount Hood Ski Bowl Champion in the expert division. He moved up to the semi-pro classification and finished second in 2007. Although his cross country skills are marginal, the Growlers Gulch ride crew is doing it s best to provide assistance.
