Moon, Hansen, Jamieson Wear ‘09 Fluidride Crowns
October 14, 2009 on 4:58 pm | In Mountain Biking | 8 CommentsMoon and Hansen put the exclamation points on the 2009 Fluidride Cup Series by rocketing to first-place finishes in the final stage at Mount Hood on September 27th.
The Stage #6 win gave Moon the Pacific Northwest title in 40+ Cat I. He finished in 2.46.49 to best Northwest legend Brad Watt, who ran a 2.47.59. Darrell Jamieson of Project 529 was third with a 2.54.63.
Hansen, fresh off his big win at the Growlers Gulch Time Trial, decimated the field in Cat I 19-29, finishing in 2.39.55, nearly six seconds in front of the runner-up. Lloyd Smith of Foes Racing was 16th in 3.05.55.
Hansen was fourth in the Fluidride standings when the day started, trailing Tyler Gilsdorf – who had held the first spot throughout the season and looked to be an easy winner. But Gisldorf could not come close to matching Hansen’s pace on the final day. Al took the lead in points and came away with the 2009 title.
Chase Jamieson ran into trouble before he got to the starting gate for the Cat III 0-14 run. His bike fell off the ski lift and suffered fatal damage. He was unable to race. Despite missing both Stage #5 and Stage #6, Chase still racked up enough points to claim the overall title.
Even after flatting, Geo Smith of Foes Racing roared back to finish second in Open 50+ with a 4.51.97.

Hey Jeep, I just checked the results for the
FR Cup overall. I actually got 11th in pro
men, and I know it shows Darrell in 4th but
he actually got 3rd. I watched them give him
the 3rd place trophy!

Hey, Al. Don’t tell the Fluidride dudes that your TT victory at Growlers was your most prestigious win of the year.

Congratulations!
Nice video, how in the hell can he keep his head so still? That trail is rugged yet the video is so smooth. What is the camera attached to a balloon, floating along behind.

I gotta say, these races just get better and better. Almost as much fun as a Growlers gathering. Everyone raced hard and the results definitely show, so a big congratulations are in order. I would have rode better, but I decided to hit a tree first run in Sat. practice. There’s no winning that battle. All in all I can’t wait for next year.

I checked with Simon Lawton at Fluidride about the camera situation. He said the guy used a “V-holder” instead of the typical goggle mounts.
