West Side of Mount St. Helens

Brian Mahon and I rode a great loop on the west side of St. Helens in late September. We started at Red Rock Pass and headed over to Blue Lake. From there, we rode up the Huckleberry Saddle and onto the Sheep Canyon Trail, which puts you on the Loowit. From there, it’s down Butte Camp and back to Red Rock.

This trail has a little of everything – rocky sections, old growth, alpine meadows, good climbing, hike-a-bike, incredible vistas, big descending.

It’s under the radar and off the chain.

  1. Nice video/slide show. I did this a few years ago with a few PUMPsters. I shot it from a camera that I strapped to my helmet. Not as good a quality but… check out the first 8 sec.
