Board of Directors Sets Date for Mega-Work Party at Growlers

November 4, 2009 on 1:46 pm | In Mountain Biking | 12 Comments

This is it. Mark Saturday, November 21st on your calendar in permanent ink. Cancel anything that was previously on there.

Our core group will do some additional trail work in the coming months, but we have set November 21st as our annual mega-trail work day. We ask that anyone who has attended events at Growlers or ridden these trails come out that day to lend a hand. Heck, we would love it if  people who haven’t been to Growlers came out to help.

Last year we had 35 people. I don’t know if it’s possible to equal or surpass that incredible turnout, but we are going to try. I will provide additional details as the date gets closer.

The Board of Director will supply lunch. We know that not everyone will be able to stay for the entire five hours of trail work that we are planning, but we ask that you do your best to stick it out. We will probably get started at 9, eat lunch at noon, and finish around 3.

We will have everything flagged and set to go. If things hold, the blue gate will be open, and that means we can drive in with tools.

This is your chance to give something back. So – start recruiting and let me know if you can make it. Ryan McMaster gets his dad to help with trail work. Paul Norris browbeats his employees into picking up rakes and shovels. Let’s see what you can do.

Sign-up starts now. Who’s in?

  1. I am in.. I have seen some new guys riding at Growlers, if you see them, try to talk them into trail work. We have to beat last years number. The only problem is the fertility of Growlers Gulch Guys. Please try not to get anyone else pregnant in the next three weeks.

  4. Hi Jeep;

    I’m putting it on my schedule and will attempt to rally a few others that I know have enjoyed your fabulous trails. What implements of destruction shall I bring? Pulaski, rake, shovel, loppers, brush saw, everything?

  5. Those items will all be useful, Brian. You can follow us in and get right to the trail work with your crew.

  7. You gotta hand it to Jerry and Andrea. They ride out at Growlers once a year and do trail work @ Growlers 2 or 3 times a year…..Way to go guys, you are my heroes!!
