Reminisces – Ken Burgoyne, ’69
November 11, 2009 on 10:24 pm | In Coach Floyd LeBaron Tribute | No CommentsCoach LeBaron had a knack for elevating your game. Not just the game of basketball but the game of life as well. He was a man that always had concern for others but seemingly never for himself.
One of my most cherished times with Coach was when Rand got us together in a 2-man scramble golf tournament. Any of you that have played with me know my game is less than stellar. I was so nervous I barely slept the night before because I was afraid of letting him down.
That day, Coach was struggling (possibly on purpose). I was so focused that I played the best of any time before that or since. We finished 2nd and in the money. He was so proud of me and I was beeming because of that. Thats what he was so good at.
The photo below is of one of the happiest moments of his life, and also of mine. That’s me struggling to elevate him in the foreground. Seconds later, Rob Andrew put him on his shoulders by himself!
