Holiday Assistance Needed
December 14, 2009 on 1:24 am | In Mountain Biking | 9 CommentsDenise Livingston, who works at Cascade Middle School in Longview, is requesting assistance for four of her students.
Three of her girls have to rely on their bikes to get around. They do not have helmets and need them.
One of her boys rides his bikes from the Highlands to Cascade in the dark each day. He needs a blinking light or reflectors for the back of his bike. He has a helmet but it is a POS. He could use something functional yet cool.
If you are interested in contributing, please let me know ASAP. Also, if you are aware of particular organizations that provide helmets at no cost, please pass that info along.

I’ve got some good tail lights. I can’t remember but I believe portland DOT/BTA/Police has a kids deal for cheap or free helmets.

Thank you everyone for your generosity. I cringe every morning as I pass the boy in the dark peddling to school with no helmet. He will be very thankful as he is one of the many kids with nothing but I know he will be most thankful that someone cared enough about his safety.

Would like to get a helmet for one of the girls, but need some advice on size:
I see adult sizes, and youth 8-14. Do they have adult sized heads or something closer to what a 8 year old would have? I always had a big noggin and no 14 year olds so have no real good benchmark.

I am going to Bob’s today or tomorrow. Let me know asap what is needed. Or how about a gift certificate to the bike shop and they can pick out there own??? Gloves or jackets needed??
