Adopt-a-Trail Program Kicks off at Growlers
December 23, 2009 on 4:36 am | In Mountain Biking | 3 CommentsIn an effort to ensure that the entire trail system at Growlers stays in great shape year-round, members of Growlers Gulch Racing will institute an adopt-a-trail program in 2010.
With the trail network expanding at a rate of approximately three miles per year, it is becoming increasingly difficult to guarantee that everything remains in sterling condition. We think the adopt-a-trail idea will take care of basic maintenance, with the result being more fun and better riding for everyone at Growlers.
Thanks to everyone who signed on. Your passion for local single-track is what keeps the buzz going.
BTW – We always appreciate it when riders take time to toss limbs out of the way, assist with limb droop, and cut out small trees that have come down. However, when we build features, we don’t want them dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. This quote from Mountain Bike magazine says it well:
To would-be trail repair heroes: if it’s rideable, leave it alone. If you can’t ride it? Learn. It’ll make you feel good about yourself. And it will keep other riders from wanting to smash you nose with their forehead.
We would also appreciate it if everyone limits the trail-braiding. Every time you braid a trail, it is an invitation to horses, motorcycles, and four-wheelers.

This is the one simple reason we have the best trail system. We have the best people.
Mel and I already have some speed inducing plans for Eddie. Picture a three foot berm at the bottom of the drop………..no brakes necessary.

Well, all the trail names that I know are taken, so please assign Lloyd and I to anything left and we’ll find it and do what is needed.
