GGG Kicks Off 2010 in Style

The Growlers Gulch Girls got the new year started with a group ride at Growlers on Saturday, January 9th. Fourteen women showed for the event.

GGG queenpin Melanie “The Hammer” Norris and her assistant Dara “Hardball” Hartman took the crew on a tour of some of the lower trails. The Hammer has announced plans to get more GGG members to commit to bigger rides in 2010.

Last year, Norris, Hartman, Denise Livingston, and Susan Martin were the only women to complete the Growlers Gulch 5,000. Hartman, Martin, and Livingston were the only ones to complete the Ride ‘em All  (Norris  opted not to attempt the ride because of trivial bone alignment problems resulting from a broken shoulder suffered during the 5K).

“We are aiming to get more women to take that next step in 2010,” Norris said.

  1. How cool! Great job Mel. Kudos to all the stealth training women. It just reminded me…”get on the spin bike Dave.”
