GG Trail Guidelines

Members of Growlers Gulch’s Adopt-a-Trail program met at the Backstage Cafe in Kelso on January 20th to establish informal guidelines for trail maintenance and construction.

There was general agreement about the following:

  • No one is obligated to add features. Your primary responsibility is to keep things cleaned up and rideable throughout the year.
  • Unless addressed in the items on this list, it is the responsibility of the builder to construct new features beside the initial line, not on the initial line. This will mean that (a) riders will have a choice and (b) the feature will be the secondary option, not a requirement.
  • Features that do not fit these guidelines will be removed.
  • Blowdown will be left and built up whenever possible to discourage motorized traffic. If this means we have to get off and walk in a few places, so be it.
  • Blowdown will be cut out on trails with flow.
  • All features must be constructed without man-made materials.
  • Overs and other features on Mr. Rogers, No Problem, JLS and the Bike Park are not to be dumbed down. In addition, no go-rounds are to be added.
