Real Beer Arrives in River City

Tess-Parker Dahlquist, manager of the Backstage Cafe at the Kelso Theatre Pub, has announced that the KTP will begin serving beers from Hopworks Urban Brewery on Friday, January 29th.

Tess decided to bring in Hopworks brews because she heard there was a demand for serious beer in the local area. And because of that, Hopworks Organic IPA will be on tap. KTP is the first and only location in Cowlitz County to carry HUB brews.

Christian Ettinger, owner of HUB and one of the best brewmasters in the world, was the key to Laurelwood’s rise on the Portland brew scene. He was named “Best Brewmaster” at the ’04 World Beer Cup and opened Hopworks at 2944 S.E. Powell in Portland in 2008. Both the brewpub and the beer have received rave reviews.

How good is HUB IPA? Well, it won a gold medal at the 2008 World Beer Cup.

The KTP is not allowed to fill growlers but will be offering Hopworks Deluxe Organic Ale in 22’s, not only to drink while watching a movie but also for take-out. Price is very reasonable at $5.75.

It’s easy to complain that nothing is available locally. The KTP has demonstrated that they are willing to go out on a limb to change that, so we need to let them know we appreciate it.

Money talks. If they don’t get a decent response, you know what happens.

The Backstage Cafe has a Facebook page. Feel free to leave a comment. But most importantly, get over there and make a purchase, and then pass the word along to your friends.
