  • Joel Rogauskus led a crew that included Paul and Mel Norris, Brad Burger, Ken Pearson, Jerry DeRuyter, and the mysterious Derrick. They completed 1-2 more miles of the 4.5 mile reroute, leaving approximately one mile to go. Paul said the new line is a big improvement and a blast to ride.

Growlers

Plenty of maintenance is underway as part of our Adopt-a-Trail program. If you’ve been out to work on trail recently and I haven’t mentioned you below, please notify me.

  • Randy Toney has done a remarkable job on Dead Left, False Hope, and Rush. Severe horse damage on Dead Left and False Hope had left those trails virtually unridable. Randy widened and groomed both of them. He also did a superior job on Rush. We are very fortunate to have him as part of our crew.
  • Check the Super D route down the Secret Garden. Dave, Lipton, Casey Cox, and I hit that last Sunday. At the top of the climbing hill, the trail goes right, makes a step down, and then hits a berm that squares you with the entry to the SG at the stump. I am hoping to add two switchbacks to Bitter Bitch before the 5K.
  • Beauty and Belly are standing tall again! Jeff, Dara, and Ryan were bikeless after returning from Tucson, so they opted for trail work on Saturday. Beauty and Belly are now groomed for speed and keep your eyes open for a grande berm at the bottom of Beauty. Ryan also did some work on the Upper KMA and is planning berms for the three Lower KMAs.
  • You will be happy to know that Alley Oop is just about back in play! Thomas and Mike cut out several trees and cleaned things up so that you can once again suffer the pain of that climb out. Just in time to incorporate it into the 2010 5K route!
  • Erik, Sara, and Riley Carlson did some work on the east portion of Trail of Tears, heading toward the Slalom Trail.
