The Board of Director of Growlers Gulch Racing has finalized the ride route for the 2010 5K. The ride will be broken into four legs totaling 5,000 feet of elevation gain over approximately 26 miles.

During the past two years, we have swapped out five miles of gravel climbing for five miles of challenging single-track ascent. Prepare accordingly.

Unless you are currently riding at a pretty high level, it would be wise to do some training. This isn’t the Cascade Creampuff, but it also isn’t a gimmee.

Tours are available upon request during the next two months. Once race day arrives, you are on your own. No signage, no guides, and no race officials to assist at intersections. If you can easily identify the trails and route described below, no worries. If you can’t, you need to come out multiple times to nail things down.

Ride Route

  • Opening Leg - 465 past intersection to Big Wow to Cut Across Trail up Ridge down Rush left to Bitter Bitch up to Lament gravel, right to 312 to upper part of Jekyll & Hyde to 312 at RR grade to top of 313.
  • Big Lap – Down Creation to 313 right to Double Down to gravel to Upper KMA down UK across road and down all three Lower KMAs to bottom of Secret Garden right to Bitter Bitch up to Lament gravel, right to 312 to upper part of Jekyll & Hyde to 312 at RR grade to top of 313.
  • Little Lap – Down Creation to 313 right to Double Down to gravel to Upper KMA down UK across road and down all three Lower KMAs to bottom of Secret Garden right to Bitter Bitch up to Lament gravel, right to 312 to upper part of Jekyll & Hyde to 312 at RR grade. (Note – Same as big lap but you do NOT ride up the 313 hill.)
  • To the Barn – RR grade across to JFK to Upper KMA down UK and all three lower KMAs to bottom of Secret Garden. RIGHT turn to Ridge Trail. Left on gravel to 465.

Ride Schematic: First you go down. Then you go up. How hard can it be?

  1. I am worn out from just reading the ride route. Lord help us all.

BTW…Great job on reworking the bitch. Very smooth. Well, smooth as a really slippery steep curvy kinda smooth way.

  7. Since you are in your 30s, Dennis, I’m thinking that a victory over a feeble AARP member would not go at the top of your resume. Now if you beat Lance, that might be worth mentioning.

  9. We both know that was a fluke, Dennis. You were riding a bike that was much too light for you.
