Breedlove, Loney Overcome Evil, Dominate at Soaring Eagle

Training at Growlers Gulch is definitely paying off.

Tonya Breedlove placed first and GGG teammate Sam Loney took second in the beginner’s division at the Soaring Eagle XC race in Redmond, Washington, on March 21st. The event, which was sponsored by BuDu Racing, is part of the West Side Mountain Bike Series.

In a statement that was eerily similar to one released by Dave LeMonds after ‘09 Mountain Bike Oregon, Loney said, “The girls who got ahead at the beginning of the race didn’t want to let anybody by. That sucked because it was all downhill.”

Breedlove solved that problem with a clever pass that took her off the course and through some brush on a corner. Loney tried to follow but the evil bitches cut her off.

“Tonya gapped me but then I finally got around the bitch that wouldn’t let me pass (Does this sound familiar, Dave?) and caught Tonya at the end of the second lap,” Loney said. “We were pretty much together from then on but Tonya got me on the sprint at the finish line.”

Breedlove and Loney are scheduled to race at the Growlers Gulch 5,000 on May 22nd. Don’t get in the way.
