All Systems Go for GGK

We are on – rain, shine, sleet or snow. The good news is that Team Fajardo will not be able to join us. Because they did not have sufficient time to train, they decided they would be unable to maintain the high standard they set for themselves at previous GG events. This means that the crews in charge of Creation, Upper KMA, Lower KMAs, Secret Garden, Rush and Big Wow will not need to bring in heavy equipment to repair the trail damage after the 5K.

I would appreciate it if you would check the info below:

Parking: I have room for about 15 cars. If you can carpool, that would be helpful. There is some parking along the spur road on the right just past my mailbox. If it’s wet, parking in the grass along my driveway is not an option.

Start Time: The clock starts at 9:00. Please note that the ride begins from 465, not from the top of the hill. The support crew will swing by to pick things up before driving in. If you have food, fuel or clothes that you want to send, be here by 8:30. Be sure your items are clearly labeled. Sign in your elapsed time when you get back.

The Field: This is easily the largest and best group of riders we’ve had at a 5K. View participants.

Trail Etiquette: If someone is on your wheel and it is easy to let them by, do it. If they are riding one-tenth of a mile per hour faster than your are, they can wait for a wide spot. Otherwise, it’s on you to get out of the way.

Ride Prep: You know yourself. Be smart when it comes to fuel, fluids, and clothing. Last year, despite the fact that the 5K took place on a 65 degree day, more than half of the field cramped. If you haven’t ridden a 5K, don’t underestimate the cumulative effect it can have on your body. BTW – There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that Andy Cramp will carry a salt lick in his pack to deal with his ongoing potassium problem.

Food: This is a bring-your-own-beverage event. The following people have signed on to bring food. If you aren’t on the list, bring a $5 donation.

  • Paul and Mel – Carnitas
  • Jack – Three-layer dip
  • Thomas and Ksenia – Salsa and salad
  • Jeff and Dara – Chips and salsa
  • Sam – Enchiladas
  • Rob and Laurie – Enchiladas
  • Susan – Cornbread
  • Aaron – Tamales
  • Ryan – Rice and beans
  • Denise – Tortillas and cookies
  • Dave – Taco salad
  • Andy – Tortillas and cookies
  • Vaughn – Tortillas, sour cream and chopped tomatoes
  • Randy – Seven-layer dip and chips
  • Ryane – Sour cream
  • Dennis – Guacamole
  • Darrell – Tortillas

  1. I’ll have another salt lick on the back of my camelback just in case someone needs a lick as they pass me. :)

  2. Crump you’re nasty!!:o) I’m pretty sure no one is going to want to lick anything that is anywhere near your camelback.
