TDG XIII Event Details

June 14, 2010 on 12:43 pm | In Mountain Biking | 20 Comments

Entry: $5 for all participants. Don’t forget to bring $20 for Dara if you ordered a cup.

Parking: Please carpool. If it’s dry, you can park along the driveway. There is also parking on the right side of the spur road just past my driveway. Be here and ready to ride no later than 8:45. You can also meet us at the Growlers Gulch gate or the top of the Power Line Hill. Make sure you know who your ride leader is and connect with that person. In what can only be described as a “tragic incident” from an earlier Tour, a rider better-suited to a mid-range group mistakenly hooked up with the Hammerheads. It was not a pretty picture.

Food and Beverages: This is a BYOB event. Please bring a casserole, dessert, or salad if possible. Paul and Mel are fixing their famous deep-fried turkeys and the Board of Directors will bring food as well. That said, we can always use additional contributions. Food will be served at 1:00. If you get back at 12:30, limit yourself to chips and libations. Please let me know what you are bringing by posting a comment at the bottom of this page or by emailing me directly.

The Ride: Plan on being out from 9:00 until 12:30. Your ride leaders are conspiring to come up with routes that will allow you to see as much trail as possible and to make sure you have a good time. Unlike most weekends at Growlers, your ride leader might even wait for you to catch up if you are lagging. Unless you are unfamiliar with the trail system or deluded by the after-effects of the 5K, you know there is always going to be climbing. Prepare accordingly. You are responsible for fluid and food during the ride.

Raffles: Our sponsors – Highlander Cycling, Cyclepath, and Fort George Brewery – will be sending a wide assortment of items for raffle. We ask that you spread the word about these businesses and do whatever you can to support them.

Gear Giveaway: Have you checked your garage lately? Don’t you think you’ve got more biking junk than you need? Now is the chance to unload things you haven’t used for ages and are unlikely to ever use again. You can work out a trade with someone if you like, but we would prefer that you just put some stuff in a box with your name on it and set it out. Call it an “exchange” to benefit your friends. Who knows, you might find something useful as well.
