Loneys on Fire at Northwest Cup

Eric and Sam Loney had a very good day at stage three of the Northwest Cup at Port Angeles on June 12th and 13th.

Eric was sixth in the pro division, finishing in 3:06.81. Lars Sternberg (2:58.38) nipped Brad Benedict (2:39.70) for the win.

Third-place finisher Kyle Thomas edged Bart McDaniels, Charlie Sponsel and Loney to take the final spot on the podium, with only 1.2 seconds separating the group.

“I can pick out two spots where I gave up time due to a mistake,” Eric said. “One of them, I almost came to a complete stop! But I was pushing pretty hard and mistakes are gonna happen.”

Sam Loney – who is in her first year of racing – finished second in Cat 3 Women’s Open.

More importantly, she picked up enough points to take the overall lead in her category.
