Burger Talks Parking, Spike

Brad Burger, Chairman of the Parking Committee at Stella, has announced the completion of the parking lot project.

Twelve yards of gravel were spread at the parking area on the right as you head toward the gate (the parking location is up the road from the gate just a bit).

“It adds about 100 feet of nose-in parking,” Burger said. “Probably good for 10 to 12 cars.”

Because the parking area is on property owned by the White family, Burger asked that those doing night rides park on the road as per the Whites’ request.

Total cost was $275, with donors ponying up $145 and Burger kicking in the remaining $130. He said his list of donors is incomplete, with some contributions being left under his wiperblade and others mailed in anonymously.

Burger is also hoping to generate interest in the newly re-routed and upgraded Golden Spike trail that links the Stella and Growlers systems.

“I envision two groups,” Burger said, “one riding east and one riding west. They would meet on the trail, exchange car keys, then connect at a predetermined location to sort out the keys and cars.”
