Spike Blowout Set for September 4th

August 29, 2010 on 10:52 pm | In Mountain Biking | 5 Comments

Trail gurus Joel Rogauskus and Ken Pearson have scheduled a formal christening of the Golden Spike on Saturday, September 4th. Everyone is invited.

The ride begins at the Stella trailhead at 10:00 a.m. and will terminate on the Growlers side. A variety of ride groups will be available, so pace is not an issue. Cars will be left at the Growlers gate and shuttle service will be available.

Everyone is encouraged to attend a post-ride barbecue at Joel’s, with the festivities beginning at 5 p.m. Food and beer will be provided. Plan on a $10 cover.

Ken needs numbers ASAP, so please contact him directly at singletrack69@msn.com if you plan to ride and if you plan to attend the party. When you contact Ken, he will send you directions to Joel’s house.

Check the vid of a portion of the DH heading toward the bridge on the Growlers side.

  1. Will be at the party, yeah sure, you betcha! Sadly, working till 6pm Sat-rrrr-day.
The Spike is a hoot to ride, my favorite part is that you really are getting somewhere. Enough elevation change to feel temps drop and slightly different canopy. Was just over it earlier this week and while there is some limb droopage I cleared the worst of it and if/when it rains that’ll clear up. Gulch side d/h is fantastic, efectively no droopage and clear sightlines. Fast and fun. Wish I could be there Saturday for the ride.

  4. Carla and Brad are in. Ride time for riding trail all the way approximately 4 hours. That includes a snack break or two (bring plenty of water and food cause there is no McDonnalds). Also ancient asian saying…”biker without spare tube must like to Wok”

Great way to start a three day weekend.
