Super D Heats Up

The line is clearly marked and the tread is in phenomenal condition for the Growlers Gulch Super D on Saturday, September 18th. This is the fourth wheel on the 2010 GG Ride Series.

We are still working on logistics. We will probably stage at the GG gate at 8:00 a.m., with the first Women’s Cat 1 racer heading down the hill at 9:00 a.m.

One question I’ve heard several times – Will there be a shuttle? Are ya kiddin’ me? This is Growlers. A shuttle equates to you climbing onto your biking and cranking up the hill. Whiners are encouraged to investigate the Brigman Plan (see below).

If you are signed up, it is your responsibility to learn the route. Contact me well in advance if you need a guide. If I can’t do it myself, I will line you up with someone who can.

Yep, the cheaters have been practicing. They all sandbag, so I wouldn’t put too much stock in the times, but this is what I’m hearing:

  • Eric Loney – 16:18
  • Bob Stanton – 19:30
  • Rob Larsen – 22:30 (Larsen is a notorious liar)
  • Bob Horness – 24:30 (This included two crashes)

If you are a Cat 3 guy, you need to know that Dara Muldoon racked up a 24:00 on Sunday and that 2009 U-10 national champ Chase Jamieson has been placed in our category.

If you have self-image issues or difficulty coming to grips with the possibility that you might get your ass handed to you by a woman or a middle school kid, please schedule an appointment with your therapist in advance of the Super D.

Lance Brigman submitted a proposal that would have required participants to ride Bitter Bitch three times, crank up the 313, and immediately begin their run. The Board of Director has vetoed this recommendation.

Still working on the details but we are planning to rendezvous at the Backstage Cafe in Kelso  at 5 p.m. for post-ride festivities. I will get back to you on this.

Check the list of participants at http://writeteknorthwest.com/archives/5385/ggr-opens-sign-up-for-september-super-d and start looking for someone you can beat.

It’s only 3.2 miles. How hard can it be?

  1. I pick Aaron Dennis in Cat 3 as a dark horse with his past racing experience. Experience counts here.
