Golden Spike Officially Christened
September 7, 2010 on 12:56 pm | In Mountain Biking | 5 CommentsNearly 30 riders participated in the formal christening of the Golden Spike trail that connects the Stella and Growlers systems. The event took place on Saturday, September 4, and was organized by Ken Pearson and Joel Rogauskus.
Total distance was 21.5 miles gate-to-gate with approximately 3,000 feet of climbing. Please note that there are gravel connectors between trail sections, so finding the line is not always a gimmee. Do not attempt this ride unless you have a guide.
Conditions include a bit of everything, with plenty of tight, technical stuff on the Harmony side; some stiff climbing near the top; and a ripping descent once you break over to the Growlers side.

Will there be future guided rides on the Golden Spike? Saturday was the same day as the Mount Hood Big ride so I couldn’t make it.
