Jim LeMonds of WriteTek Northwest has agreed to contribute a chapter to a book titled When Logging Was Logging.
LeMonds is the author of Deadfall: Generations of Logging in the Pacific Northwest, published in 2000 by Mountain Press Publishing of Missoula, Montana.
Edited by Karen Bertroch and published by Donning Company, When Logging Was Logging will focus on 100 years of timber history in the Willapa Hills, from Naselle through the Elochoman Valley.
Numerous historic photos from the Appello Archives, the Wahkiakum Eagle, and the private collections of area loggers will be included.
After covering more than a century of logging history, the book will culminate with LeMonds’ chapter about Jerry deBriae, who has worked in the woods for more than 50 years and continues to run his own logging company.
The price is expected to be $15 to $18, with publication in late 2011.
