Maui 2009
March 17, 2009 on 4:15 am | In Photos and Videos | 2 CommentsThis isn’t taunting.
If I wanted to taunt, I would have sent this to you while Sher and I were on Maui in August. Instead, I’m here with you in the balmy PNW, hoping the gods that govern meterology haven’t forgotten that spring typically includes sunbreaks with temperatures rocketing into the 50s.
During the winter, I sometimes wear shorts and flip-flops. It’s my way of believing we can will the weather to cooperate. As the wind tosses fir limbs onto my roof, this slideshow is a similar effort.
I know the song – “A Pirate Looks at Forty” – is out of place, but I’ll always think of Maui when I hear it. We took the Gemini up to Honolua Bay for a snorkeling adventure. On the way back, when we were just off Kapalua, the captain let the sails rip and took us out into the Pailolo Channel between Maui and Moloki.
The swells were big and the crew was serving wine and chocolate chip cookies when Buffet started playing. Made me remember that life has its little moments of perfection.
The track skips a little so apologies in advance. Be sure you hold on for the last vid clip. It will help you dream.
