It is these success stories that are the ultimate payback for being a teacher....and it always warms my heart that it came through the halls of public education which is so often criticized.
Wasn't there an Arizona teacher who, a few years ago, received a red corvette from one of his successful former students who remembered his teacher always wanted one?
He must have been the business teacher,
or the coach.
English teachers only get immortalized.

As the brother of the former RAL high school teacher, I have encountered countless former students. "Are you related to Mr. LeMonds the
teacher?" After quickly glancing about for concealed weapons, I acknowledge, "I am." Virtually every one of those former students has
had positive things to say and most were glowing comments. My wife has received the same positive feedback from his former students she has
also run into.

For him, teaching has been a profession that as Cousin Eddy says in the movie Christmas Vacation when referring to a gift to the Jam of the
Month Club: "It's the gift that keeps on giving."

Kudos to him and other teachers who are able to transfer their passion for teaching into to meaningful lifelong learnings for their students.

That is an awesome story, Jim! I love hearing about good news like that. I, myself, had a teaching career, and have been fortunate to have had some of those "stellar" students, too. It sure is exciting, and what an honor! It will be fun to track her career as she develops as a writer. Great story, thanks for sharing!
