All Systems Go for GG5K

As Hamlet said in Act V, “the readiness is all” – or as Van Hoose said on Tuesday, “The hay is in the barn.”
No more pre-rides or route analysis. The GG5K is set to go on Saturday, May 9th. Right now, we have 24 riders still on the list.
Weather: It’s been ugly but the forecast looks pretty good. I’m hoping that if we get drier weather this afternoon and a dry day on Friday, things might firm up a bit. I’m sure the Big Wow and Rush will be interesting. High for Saturday is supposed to be 65-70.
Time: Be at 465 NO LATER than 8:45. We will leave together at 9:00.
Support: Sam and Tonya will be driving in from the Melton side and setting up a support station on the corner where the Lament heads up toward Jekyll & Hyde. You can send items with them if you like. Clearly label anything you ask them to carry in for you.
Route: It’s at http://writeteknorthwest.com/archives/850/game-on, but I’m sure nobody needs to review it.
Trail Conditions: There’s a pretty good chance that this week’s big wind storm has left debris on the trail. We don’t have time to deal with it prior to the ride. You can either hike around the bad stuff or comply with the WWLD (What Would Larsen Do?) philosophy, which means that you load up with as much speed as possible and pound your bike through whatever is in the way.
Riders:
Parking: Please carpool if possible. I don’t think the weather is going to be dry enough for you to park along the sides of my driveway. We may need to park a few cars down on the corner of the road.
Food: Dave, Paul and Mel are bringing soup. I am making manicotti and spaghetti. Andy Crump is bringing his barbecue and will toss on some jumbo dogs (He assured me that they are made of the finest beef, pork and chicken “parts” on the market). Several other people have mentioned that they might also be bringing food. We should be in pretty good shape.
Beverages: Vortex IPA from Fort George Brewery will be on tap, courtesy of Al Hansen. Minimum $2 cup fee. We may need to kick in a little more than that to help Al G cover the cost. He’s bringing five gallons. Additional beer contributions are welcome.
Seating: We can set up the food in the garage. I’ll have some big tables there. I have about a dozen lawn/deck chairs. If you have a chance to toss in a couple chairs, along with a table, please do so.

young professional eric says the trails were not good on tuesday. what does this mean for the rest of us? there maybe more than trail debris to pickup.

I was out yesterday in the pouring rain and rode, the Ridge Trail, Creation, Double Down and Upper KMA. All were clear of debris but were slippery. I was going to ride more but the weather got the best of me and I quit after 3 hours.

all I can say is the vortex is a go!!!! to bad there is hours of riding until we get to drink it. it is a race to the sauce, that should be some good incentive.

With just the small amount of sunshine yesterday,
the trails were already drying out. We did not ride the route, but Predator got more tacky in just the 2 hours we were riding. As long as there are no sticks, it will be stellar.
