Everyone is invited to kick off the Halloween weekend by joining us for Pump Track Preview Day at the Castle Rock Bike Park at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 29th.
This will be an informal get-together, with the focus on introducing people to the pump tracks and the park and giving everyone a chance to try things out. This is a weather-dependent event, and we will reserve the right to cancel if the weather-guessers are predicting a monsoon.
Kevin and I are still working out the details but we will probably have a Pump ’til you Puke competition, with riders judged according to the footage they can rack up without pumping on this mammoth course. We will also set aside a smaller part of the track and see who can record the fastest lap.
No need to get tense. This event is brought to you by Growlers Gulch Racing. As you know, we pride ourselves on not being competitive.
I will bring a couple of smaller bikes from the loaner fleet if anyone wants to use them. Big bikes barely fit between some of the rollers so they are not a good choice.
One thing we want to get straight – We understand that work on the pump tracks is not completed. However, attempting to do dirt work in the mud is not logical. Much of the advanced track is rideable and area kids are already having fun on it. We have decided to leave the pump tracks as they are until next spring and then go in and make the necessary djustments.
No need to RSVP. Just show up. Feel free to bring kids or friends. Having fun is our number-one objective.
