Tour de Gulch XIV Slated for June 18th

Think of it as a party with a ride attached.

The storied Tour de Gulch - the best mountain biking ride west of Castle Rock on the second or third Saturday in June for the past thirteen years - is set for Saturday, June 18th.

GGR veteran Mike Van Hoose calls the TDG “the only Growlers event that isn’t stupid.” At the very least, it’s the only when where hurl, carnage and 1-2-3-go are not used to describe the event.

Our goal is to pull people together to share a day of riding. We’ll have a bunch of ride groups of varying levels and tour guides to take you out for a 3-4 hour tour of the system.

This is our way of saying thanks to everyone who has pitched in at Growlers this year. We’ll even have a new line ready for you to sample.

So, who qualifies? Anyone who . . .

  • Is part of the Adopt-a-Trail Program
  • Showed for the 90-person mega-work party in November
  • Came out for our garbage pick-up day
  • Is signed on for the South Coldwater work party on the 26th
  • Has done trail work at Growlers that is not described above
  • Was part of the GG5K support crew

Typically, we have the party at 465, but in order to accommodate a larger group of people, we are making an adjustment. Our plan is to ride from 9 to 1 and then re-connect at Porky’s in Longview from 2 until whenever. Porky’s is bringing in extra staff to handle the crowd. We’d like everyone to show if possible.

So, who’s in?

  1. Jeep, I’ll be there for ride and Porky’s. Will probably try to keep Joel in sight on the Triple G ride.

  2. I’ll make an appearance at Porky’s after riding Tour de Blast. I wish these weren’t the same day! Next year I’ll ride with y’all again. :)

  3. Love it up there, now has special meaning by meeting hot 29r chic at GG, so count us both in!
